A little insight into the places we will visit.
The Kelpies
The Kelpies, where the vision of artist Andy Scott merges with the rich tapestry of Scotland’s past and present. These magnificent equine sculptures, standing proudly at 30 meters tall, embody the power and grace of Scotland’s rich heritage. Discover the intricate details, the marvellous feat of engineering and the symbolism that lies within, as our expert guides lead you through the awe-inspiring world of The Kelpies.
Stirling Castle
Stirling is one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles – an icon integral to how we understand the nation’s story. Generations of Scottish monarchs have enlarged, adapted and embellished Stirling Castle. Explore its three main enclosures, and then admire the refurbished Royal Palace – childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. The palace’s lavish design drew on European Renaissance fashions to show off James V’s power and good taste.
We have recreated the palace interiors as they may have looked when the Scottish king’s grand scheme was complete.
The National Wallace Monument
Stirling’s famous landmark stands above the fields where William Wallace led his troops to victory at The Battle of Stirling Bridge and tells the story of the patriot and martyr who became Scotland’s National Hero. The National Wallace Monument is one of Scotland’s most distinctive landmarks.
The stunning 220ft tower honours the famous Scottish warrior – Sir William Wallace. It took eight years to build and was funded entirely by contributions from the public. Around 80,000 people made their way to the town of Stirling from all over Scotland and beyond to attend the ceremony of the laying of the Foundation Stone. On Saturday 11th September 1869, 572 years after William Wallace had been triumphant at The Battle of Stirling Bridge, The National Wallace Monument was completed and opened to the public.
Gleneagles Hotel
We will make our way for a coffee and bite to eat at the world famous, Gleneagles Hotel which is a prestigious resort in the heart of Scotland. Set within 850 acres, it offers 3 championship golf courses and an ESPA spa, along with a falconry school. This truly is an awe-inspiring hotel that you will cherish opportunity to visit. We normally have to encourage our guest to move on with the activities of the tour as many would like to sit for hours enjoying this glorious playground on a very charming country estate.
Glenturret Distillery
Scotland’s oldest working distillery, since 1763. The Glenturret brings together the hard-won wisdom of generations with the imagination of contemporary masters to craft moments to treasure in spirit and glass. The Single Malt is defined by its outstanding quality and exquisite taste. The tour of the distillery will take you through the traditional art of making The Glenturret Single Malt Whisky, using hand operated, time-honoured methods. The tour brings to life the history of the distillery and finishes off with a dram from hte distillery’s core whisky range, showcasing the distinctive fruity spirit style amidst the ever-evolving canvas of our maturing wood characters.
Callander
Luss is a picturesque conservation village which sits on the western shore of Loch Lomond. Occupation of this area dates to medieval times, but much of the village you see today was created in the 18th and 19th centuries to house workers from the nearby slate quarries. The neat rows of cottages come alive in spring and summer with elaborate flower displays on all sides as visitors make their way to the loch shore. No visit to Luss is complete without taking in the view from the end of the pier with Ben Lomond standing proudly over Loch Lomond.
Callander
Callander is a bustling tourist town situated on the River Teith, near Stirling, and is often described as the gateway to the Highlands. The pretty town of Callander lies immediately south of the Highland Boundary Fault which is historically a meeting point between the Highlands and the Lowlands. This holiday town is a popular base for tourists exploring the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and ‘Rob Roy Country’ or stopping off on their way up into the Highlands.
Lake of Menteith
The picturesque Lake of Menteith near Stirling is Scotland’s only lake.
Inchmahome Priory is found on an island in the Lake of Menteith, which dates from 1238 and once served as a refuge for Mary Queen of Scots as an infant, and Robert the Bruce.
There are many places to eat on route or picnic spots where you can admire stunning scenery, and the nearby Menteith Hills boast a network of walking paths.
