A little insight into the places we will visit.
Auchentoshan Whisky Distillery
Discover everything Auchentoshan has to offer and what sets it apart as a Lowland Single Malt with a defined sense of identity and range of whisky with character. Auchentoshan, pronounced, “Ock-Un-Tosh-Un” is hard to say, although easy to drink and was established in 1823.
Balloch Castle and Country Park
Balloch Castle Country Park is one of the finest public spaces in the West of Scotland with fantastic views over Loch Lomond and plenty of things to see and do. Balloch Castle Country Park lies on the southeast shores of Loch Lomond. The park itself comprises 200 acres of semi-natural and ornamental woodland, open parkland, formal gardens, meadow, play parks and shoreline. The park is quintessentially a 19th century private estate, developed as a park at the beginning of the 20th century. Its design and layout have remained largely unaltered since 1800, at the time the current castle was built. You will have wonderful views of Loch Lomond, Ben Lomond and will feel right at home when humming the world-famous song,
“By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes,
Where the sun shines on Loch Lomond
Where me and my true love spent many days
On the banks of Loch Lomond.
It was there we parted in yon shady glen,
On the steep sides of Ben Lomond.
Where the broken heart knows no second spring,
Resigned we must be while we’re parting.
You’ll take the high road and I’ll take the low road,
And I’ll be in Scotland before you.
Where me and my true love will never meet again,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.“
Writing this piece, literally made my heart burst with pride! A small nation is Scotland with a massive heart.
Loch Lomond Cruise
After Balloch Park we will enjoy a cruise on Loch Lomond. This one-hour circular tour of Loch Lomond’s South basin enjoys views of the magnificent Ben Lomond and passes a number of Loch Lomond’s stately homes and castles along the shoreline. Venture out towards Inchmurrin Island- the largest of Loch Lomond’s 33 islands and home to the ancient remains of Lennox Castle, which in the 14th century sheltered a fugitive Robert the Bruce before he was to become King of Scotland.
Cameron House Hotel for Coffee
You will discover a world of beyond your imagination. Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Cameron House stands as a beacon of timeless splendour at the tranquil loch shores. Immerse yourself in breathtaking vistas from the elegantly and stylishly furnished hotel. You will enjoy a nice coffee and there will be an opportunity to snap memorable photos with your loved ones.
Luss
Luss is a picturesque conservation village which sits on the western shore of Loch Lomond. Occupation of this area dates to medieval times, but much of the village you see today was created in the 18th and 19th centuries to house workers from the nearby slate quarries. The neat rows of cottages come alive in spring and summer with elaborate flower displays on all sides as visitors make their way to the loch shore. No visit to Luss is complete without taking in the view from the end of the pier with Ben Lomond standing proudly over Loch Lomond.
Callander
Callander is a bustling tourist town situated on the River Teith, near Stirling, and is often described as the gateway to the Highlands. The pretty town of Callander lies immediately south of the Highland Boundary Fault which is historically a meeting point between the Highlands and the Lowlands. This holiday town is a popular base for tourists exploring the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and ‘Rob Roy Country’, or stopping off on their way up into the Highlands.
Kenmore
A small village in Perthshire, which is a popular centre for activities on Loch Tay.
This beautiful village is at the northern end of the14-mile long Loch Tay. It’s great for activities on and around the Loch itself. There are plenty of choice for eating out. If you’re looking to buy gifts or great fresh local produce.
The scenery around Kenmore is stunning. You will love it here!
After Kenmore we will depart to take you back to your hotel so that you can relax, perhaps have a dram, or two and look at the stunning photos you took of this special day in beautiful Scotland.
There will be stops on the way for you to enjoy a photo opportunity, coffee or bite to eat.s
